Resources for Shelter-In-Place during COVID-19
Hello, friends!
Let me cut to the chase: spending weeks on end at home creates some strange moods and family dynamics. Below I'm providing my favorite resources for you:
Remotely available health practitioners
Activities for kids bouncing off the walls
Online exercise programs
Favorite recent books
I hope you enjoy these!

Most parents I know are at their wits' end after four days confined to home. Here are some new things to try!
Giant list of indoor activities for kids -- sorted by age
Free online STEAM-based educational content focused on the solar system
Free and cheap coding camps for kids
National Geographic for Kids: games, videos, information about animals, and more
Books, games, and videos sorted by school grade at FunBrain -- great if you have run out of library books!
Highlights Kids - my favorite childhood magazine - has games, jokes, activities, and more
I always recommend outdoor exercise first -- walking, hiking, bike riding, gardening, or just being near the beach or in the trees. However, those of you working from home or managing kids may want to make the best use of being at home with online exercise resources.
Glo - includes yoga, meditation, pilates and more. Sortable by style, teacher, duration, and topic. This site is incredible and has a free two-week introductory offer. I'm very partial to Jason Crandell (yoga) but many of the other teachers I've tried are incredible.
Sworkit - online fitness and stretching. I've had the app for years (Sworkit Abs and Core) and its abdominal sessions will make you want to weep in 10 minutes :)
Square One Yoga - one of my favorite local Oakland studies is now offering virtual classes
Libraries are closed, but e-readers are a great way to pick up new books! Here are some of my favorites from the past year:
Three Women by Lisa Taddeo
Disappearing Earth by Julia Phillips
Know My Name by Chanel Miller
The Book You Wish Your Parents Had Read by Philippa Perry
If you love some of these suggestions, please forward them to friends and family who could also benefit from them.
I hope you're all hanging in there during these strange times. Let me know how you're doing and if you have any favorite resources I've left off the list!
With love,
Janet
