Will This Be Your Favorite New Book, Too?
Hello, friends!
I’ve been remiss in sending news and updates, but I recently read a book that was so beautiful and insightful that I’m moved to get back in touch to spread the word. Also, I've included some clinic updates below.
First, the book!
Brave New Medicine, recently released by Berkeley doctor and resident Cynthia Li, is an intimate memoir of her decade-long health struggle. In her mid-30s, while her career and family were taking off, Cynthia’s health collapsed to the point that she was housebound for two years and forced to re-examine how she understood her body, mind, and healing. This beautiful book charts her course through greater self-understanding along with healing through multiple modalities. Cynthia first engaged with acupuncture through treatment with my mentor, Bob Levine, who practices in Albany. If you or your friends and family have suffered with seemingly unexplainable health symptoms and have curiosity about someone else’s inspiring path through quite dark days, I highly recommend this book.
Pediatric Care
I’ve spent much of the summer and early fall working with children and young adults struggling with anxiety, fear, and hyper-sensitivity. Acupuncture, acupressure, and herbal therapy are powerful tools for resetting our nervous systems and enabling us to properly breathe, digest, and process emotions. I’m passionate about letting families know that there are many tools to support their children, and I’d be delighted to chat with any parents you know who may be in need. Find more information here.
Dietary Support
The seasons are changing and our veggie beds are in transition after a summer full of carrots, tomatoes, snap peas, beets, and strawberries. This is a great season to add ginger and cinnamon to your teas and soups and focus on bringing more warm foods into your diet. If you need extra immune support, please be in touch about appropriate herbal therapy and acupuncture.
Clinic Updates
A few months ago I changed my clinic phone number to 415-652-4096 to ensure I'm not missing texts anymore, eek! Please find me there. Also, I will be taking two weeks off for Thanksgiving travels -- I will be out the weeks of November 25th and December 2nd. Let's plan accordingly to make sure you have all the herbs and treatments you need.
For those of you I haven’t seen in a little while, I look forward to hearing from you about what’s new!
With love and in community,
Janet
