Self-care as a form of self-respect
On a related note, I wanted to share a beautiful podcast with you. Chef Babette recently spoke with Rich Roll (YouTube, ITunes) about her journey from childhood abuse to becoming a now 72-year-old fitness enthusiast, entrepreneur, and solo cook at her successful vegan restaurant in LA. She didn't start her health journey until her 40s but she committed to a simple daily self-care practice which eventually transformed her mind and body. (Content warning -- Chef Babette spends minutes 7:55 to 18:00 discussing her childhood abuse, please skip if appropriate.)
If you, like me, sometimes feel like any form of self care is too much to bother with, too exhausting, too much time -- take a listen to this podcast. Chef Babette started her journey with just one pushup a day. That simple act of self care and self-respect over time morphed into a completely different lifestyle and enabled her transition into a model of healthy aging. For you, that self-care might be healthier boundaries, an earlier bedtime, saving money every month, or trimming a sugary drink out of your diet. Whatever it is -- this podcast will remind you that you can build your self-respect by starting with ONE, small, simple self-care activity.
I look forward to hearing from you about how you like the podcast and how you love Navarre's healing support!
With love,
Janet
